Summary
Manta Play is free to play and supported in part by advertising. Advertising never appears during active gameplay, never affects scoring or fairness, and can be removed entirely with a paid subscription.
Manta does not build advertising profiles of its players. All advertising is contextual and non-personalized.
Where advertising appears
Manta shows two kinds of promotional content, which are kept separate.
Third-party advertising through Google AdMob, in these formats:
- Passive in-app placements on low-pressure screens such as Home, the games catalogue, leaderboards, profile, and completed-game results. At most one is visible per screen, it is clearly labelled, it does not refresh on a timer, and it always sits after the screen’s own content so you never scroll past an ad to reach a control.
- Full-screen ads between games, shown only when leaving a completed game and only to adult players on the free tier. They never appear during play, and never between finishing a game and seeing your results.
- Rewarded ads, which you may choose to watch in exchange for a stated benefit such as an extra attempt.
Manta’s own announcements about features, news, and subscriptions. These are not third-party advertising and are presented as Manta content.
Where advertising never appears
No paid advertising is placed on:
- question, answer, or reveal screens
- any screen with an active timer or a live round in progress
- screens where you are entering a private answer or prediction
- purchase and subscription screens
- the social area, friends list, and invitations
- shared television or host display surfaces
Advertising is never required in order to finish a game, and an advertising failure never blocks navigation or gameplay.
Children and age-based treatment
Manta asks for a birth year when an account is created. It is used to select appropriate question difficulty, to operate Kid Mode, and to determine which advertising treatment an account receives. It is never used to target advertising.
Accounts belonging to minors, accounts using Kid Mode, and accounts whose age is unknown receive Manta’s restricted treatment:
- No full-screen advertising, in any circumstance.
- Contextual, non-personalized inventory only.
- Child-directed treatment applied to every ad request, using the current Google Mobile Ads age-treatment controls.
- The content exclusions below apply, as they do for everyone.
The server determines this treatment. The app cannot decide it independently and never guesses a player’s age.
Personalization and what is not used
All Manta advertising is contextual. It may reflect the screen you are on, the game mode being played, the category currently in play, and the device platform.
Manta does not build or share advertising profiles, and does not use any of the following to target advertising:
- trivia history, categories played, or answers given
- skill, accuracy, or performance
- purchase history
- friends or social relationships
- inferred interests or personality
Manta does not request device location permission for advertising, does not store coordinates, and does not send any location of its own to the ad network.
What Google receives. Ads are served by Google AdMob, and Google processes some information to deliver them, including the ad request itself and technical data such as IP address and device type. Even for non-personalized ads, Google uses limited data for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and fraud prevention. Google’s handling of that data is governed by its own policies at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Advertising content standards
The following categories are excluded for all users, adults included:
gambling and betting; alcohol; tobacco and nicotine; dating and hookup services; sexual and adult content; weapons; recreational drugs; get-rich-quick and speculative crypto offers; political campaign advertising.
These exclusions are applied through the available AdMob content controls, and every ad request additionally carries Google’s most restrictive content rating.
Rewarded advertising
Rewarded ads are always optional and always started by you.
- They are never launched automatically.
- The exact benefit is stated before the ad starts.
- They are never required to complete a game.
- They never unlock paid subscription content — categories, difficulty levels, question types, or longer game lengths.
- They never change scoring, timers, or answer correctness. A run extended by a reward is permanently marked as assisted, and an assisted result is not eligible for any competitive ranking.
- A daily limit applies.
Rewards are confirmed by Google’s server-side verification before being granted, and are granted once.
Removing advertising
Manta’s paid subscriptions remove all paid third-party advertising. Subscribers may still see Manta’s own product announcements.
When a subscriber hosts a private game, paid advertising is suppressed for everyone in that session.
Consent and privacy choices
Manta uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to obtain and manage advertising consent where it is required. Where the platform indicates that privacy options must be offered, a privacy options control is available in Settings. Declining consent, or a failure to reach the consent service, never prevents you from using the app.
